From being one of the pioneers to an established brand in medical devices industry, BPL Medical Technologies has consistently delivered latest innovations and technologies for enhanced customer experience backed by an unparalleled value system.

It is the trust of 50 years, huge investments in world-class R&D and manufacturing that has seen the company grow leaps and bounds, says Dr Karthik Anantharaman, Chief Marketing Officer, BPL Medical Technologies, who is participating at the 71st Annual Conference of the Indian Radiology & Imaging Association (IRIA) being organised in Mumbai and the first annual international workshop on ‘Up-skilling of Orthopaedicians for Enhancement of Competencies’ being organised by Institute of Health Management and Research (IIHMR) in Bengaluru.

“The company’s traditional product line has been diagnostic cardiology equipment like ECG, patient monitor, etc, and we have a significant market share in these product segments. To continue developing new products in India, we invested further in manufacturing capabilities and boosted our R&D and manufacturing facilities,” he says.

Over the years, BPL Medical Technologies kept on building a diverse portfolio of quality medical equipment in anaesthesia, critical care and imaging besides cardiology, which remains the company’s forte. The company continues to see growth in all these segments with X-ray machines getting added to the imaging product portfolio, while company’s anaesthesia and critical care product line seeing strong growth owing to high demand.

In order to consolidate the growth, in September 2015, the company acquired Britain-based Penlon Ltd — a global leader in anaesthesia and critical care segment. “It has patented products in the area of anaesthesia as well as critical care solutions which are certified, well developed and exported to more than 92 countries in the world,” adds Dr Anantharaman.

This further underscores the company’s commitment to collaborate with the best brains across the world to offer latest medical technologies to customers at affordable prices.

“The company has made significant strides in boosting up the local R&D and manufacturing efforts that led to increase in company’s good market share,” comments the Chief Marketing Officer of BPL Medical Technologies.

To ensure that the company does not lose out to competition in global arena, two pronged stretegy was adopted. “First, we developed high quality products and locally manufactured in India, which are up to the standards of exports and match market requirement. Second, we acquired a global company Penlon, which has its presence in more than 92 countries and has right regulatory and political formulations. Both of these efforts augmented BPL’s efforts in commercialising products internationally.”

BPL Medical Technologies currently sells its products across Africa, Italy and South Asian countries, while Penlon’s products are sold across the globe.

All these efforts did not go unrecognised. The company was conferred with the prestigious Frost & Sullivan ‘Customer Value Leadership Award 2016’ in the India medical device technology category and ‘ET Best Healthcare Brand 2016’. Six more awards followed for the company’s relentless efforts to deliver innovations in medical technology. Recently, BPL Medical Technologies was recognised by FICCI and awarded as the best healthcare companies in the Indian subcontinent.

As Indian healthcare industry is gearing up for a fast paced growth, BPL Medical Technologies finds itself in a good position to further strengthen its customer base.

“We are providing financial options to our customers to create ease for them to buy the healthcare machinery and equipment. Secondly, we are trying to help our customers in generating more revenue by providing them customer marketing support, sales and service support and last mile connectivity to reach Tier-1, 2 and 3 cities,” says Dr Anantharaman.

The foreseeable future is of increased demand of smart technologies driving medical devices and appliances, according to him. “Newer technologies will create a new era of medical data management where devices will start getting the cloud, local servers for medical record and data updates,” he adds.

The future, he says, will see “smart healthcare or connected healthcare completely revolutionising the way the medical devices will be designed, developed and manufactured,” predicts Dr Anantharaman.
