Aster RV Hospital, a leading healthcare institution dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to patients, is proudly announce the launch of a new initiative aimed at providing support to individuals suffering from liver disease.

Living with a chronic ailment can be challenging, and having a strong support system can make all the difference in one’s journey towards recovery. Recognizing this need, Aster RV Hospital is introducing a periodic support group specifically tailored to patients with liver disease, including those who may require or have undergone a liver transplant.

The support group will serve as a platform for patients to come together, share their experiences, and offer mutual encouragement and assistance. It will comprise individuals who have undergone a liver transplant, those on the waiting list for transplant, as well as individuals dealing with various chronic liver ailments.

“We understand the emotional and physical toll that liver disease can take on individuals and their families,” said Dr. Naveen Ganjoo, Senior Consultant – Hepatology & Integrated Liver Care, Aster RV Hospital. “Through this support group, we aim to provide a nurturing environment where patients can find solace, share their challenges, and learn from each other’s experiences.”

The support group meetings will feature informative sessions lead by healthcare professionals, including doctors, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and counsellors. These sessions will cover a range of topics, including treatment options, dietary guidelines, exercise recommendations, and coping strategies for managing the emotional aspects of living with liver disease.

“We believe that by bringing together individuals who are facing similar challenges, we can foster a sense of community and empowerment,” added Dr. Naveen Ganjoo. “Our goal is to arm patients with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate their health journey with confidence and resilience.”

The support group will meet periodically at Aster RV Hospital, providing patients with a safe and supportive space to connect with others who understand their experiences firsthand. Patients and their families are encouraged to participate and take advantage of this valuable resource.

“We invite patients, caregivers, and anyone affected by liver disease to join us as we embark on this journey of support and solidarity,” concluded Dr. Naveen. “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by liver disease and help them live healthier, happier lives.”

In a Special Mention it was discussed that a special programme called “Care for the care giver” was also planned in this support groups as we know the importance of keeping the care givers physically and mentally in good shape as they are the ones who take care of the ailing at home
