ANIL KUMAR SRIVASTAVA (Chief Operating Officer at NIHON KOHDEN, India )
Nihon Kohden has been a leader in the manufacture of high-quality medical equipment that meets Japanese Standards. Nihon Kohden is specialized in the production of patient monitors, central nursing stations, biphasic defibrillators, AEDs, ventilators, electrocardiographs, evoked EMG measuring Instruments, and hematology analyzers. living true to the phrase “Fighting Disease with Electronics” in our motto. According to Anil Kumar Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer at Nihon Kohden India, in an interview with Modern Medi Health Magazine, “We are committed to providing products and services that not only enhance Quality and workflow but also keep the patients’ well-being in mind by introducing the latest innovative technologies and solutions.”
Q1. As Nihon Kohden India unique methods provide patient’s comfort and improve quality of patient care., what are the factors that separates your organization from similar other competitors? Explain your USP.
Ans. For over half a century, Nihon Kohden is supporting the patient care cycle with leading-edge technology such as unique sensing and algorithms. In order to provide better medical solutions for various medical fields, Nihon Kohden gives top priority to patients and is actively developing innovative medical electronic equipment. Our unique methods eliminate patient discomfort and improve the quality of patient care.
The patient’s health and medical status are indicated by vital signs such as ECG, EEG, body temperature, blood pressure, and blood flow volume. Early detection and accurate treatment require precise measurement of biometric data.
It is also important to minimize discomfort and stress on the patient when taking these measurements. Nihon Kohden aims to develop medical devices and sensor technologies which are accurate and gentle on the patient.
Our patient-centric approach, unique sensing technologies, and algorithms differentiate us from the competition who are using similar traditional technologies, methods, or parameters from OEM solution providers.
Q2. Tell us about the various products & services you offer on your flagship.
Ans: Nihon Kohden’s mission is to utilize its leading-edge technology and products to support medical treatment in all clinical areas from emergency response to testing, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and rehabilitation.
By drawing upon its core technical strength of sensor technology, Nihon Kohden continues to provide excellent biomedical instruments which can detect the faint signals produced by the human body.
The Company’s main products include patient monitoring systems, defibrillators, AEDs, ventilators, electroencephalographs, electrocardiographs, evoked potential/EMG measuring instruments, and hematology analyzers.
Q3. What are the pain points that the client comes to you with and how are you able to solve the same?
Ans. To be in touch with customers and solve their pain points is always the priority of each Nihon Kohden team member.
There are various pain points of the clients, the usual one is the operational cost of the existing products which they are using in their hospitals, the performance and wear tear cost of their existing products.
With Nihon Kohden high performance, Japanese quality, highly durable products, and accessories we are able to solve their pain point related to high operational cost which is the main concern for customers of all segments.
Our patient-centric approach has let us innovate unique technologies which helps end-users reduce their pain points related to the measurement of the parameters and the cost involved in its measurements.
One such great example of this is the development of the pulse oximetry principle by Nihon Kohden researcher Takuo Aoyagi in the early 1970’s. Pulse oximetry measures blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) noninvasively with an infrared sensor on the fingertip. Before that, the measurement of blood oxygen saturation required arterial blood sampling. Thanks to pulse oximetry, the critical parameter of SpO2 can be measured painlessly, continuously, and in real-time.
The Pulse oximeter has played a very vital role during covid-19 the pandemic, today it is available in almost every third household and has helped many in taking care of their loved ones.
Q4. What strategies do you involve to keep the workforce intact?
