Mumbai:  Wockhardt Cyclothon Season 3 organised by Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, was amongst the largest cycling event in the region! With over 1200+ enthusiastic cyclists from across Mumbai, including major cycling groups, this Cyclothon was a remarkable journey of fitness and a commitment to a healthier lifestyle, leading to a Healthy Heart.

The Cyclothon was organized with the purpose of raising awareness about Heart Health on the occasion of World Heart Day which is on 29th September 2024. Wockhardt Cyclothon Season 3 was held on Sunday, September 1st. It featured rides of 30km and 15km through the Uttan-Gorai Island. This cyclothon was more than just a ride—it was a celebration of endurance and the vibrant culture of cycling leading to physical fitness.

Dr. Mayuresh Pradhan, Consultant Cardiovascular & Thoracic said, “Heart problems are rampant in all age groups and it is not an old man’s disease anymore. Around 75% of people diagnosed with heart disease fail to exercise regularly. Physical inactivity is one of the major contributors to heart disease.  Cycling is a great activity loved by people of every age group. Regular cycling is beneficial for cardiovascular health, as it is de-stressing, reduces the risk of heart disease, and aids in controlling, weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol while promoting overall wellness.  With each pedal, the heart works harder, boosting blood flow and oxygen supply to essential organs. This activity not only helps prevent issues such as hypertension and heart disease but also contributes to a longer life by strengthening heart performance as one grows older.”

“Through engaging in events like Cyclothons, we encourage everyone to take charge of their heart health. These initiatives promote physical activity and serve as platforms for sharing vital education stressing the treatment within the golden hour. Moreover, a Cyclothon serves as a reminder that heart health is not just an individual responsibility but a collective journey. We are ecstatic to see the massive response to this cyclothon as people participated with great enthusiasm. We aim to instill lifelong habits that empower participants to advocate for their health even after the event concludes,” said Dr Pankaj Dhamija, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road.
