Genesis Rehabilitation Services India (GRSI) aims to provide a holistic, person-centred approach to senior care that embraces healthy living through aging. GRSI has recently launched its continued care program which is a combination of virtual wellness and hands-on expertise through home care efforts. To ensure a highly responsive eldercare ecosystem, Genesis Rehabilitation Services India (GRSI) has collaborated with HCAH India. HCAH is India’s largest QAI accredited leading health service provider backed by Burman Family, promotors of Dabur & Founders of HAH, UK. The collaboration would help GRSI and HCAH India to leverage each other’s expertise and provide quality and comprehensive care to senior citizens.

There has been a huge demographic shift with increased life expectancy and declining birth rates. The elderly usually are the neglected section of society and face social issues with loneliness, elder abuse, and poor access to health care. Homecare systems provide a unique opportunity and potential to connect with aging adults and guide care beyond their hospital stay for true healthy living and aging.

Speaking about the collaboration, Nanki Lakhwinder Singh, CEO and Director of GRS India said, “We are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration with the HCAH. They have a solid business foundation and have the agility to respond well to the changing environment during these uncertain times. We hope to synergise their expertise with our capabilities in the Senior Care space. While demographically this space appears to be very big, with a serviceable population base of 173 million by 2026, the care settings and the services available to fulfil the needs of this senior population is very fragmented. With this partnership, we hope to fill a service gap for our seniors by providing them with the right care programs suited to their age, lifestyle and aspirations.”

The elder population in India has witnessed a firm rise in the last few decades. A report by CII projects that India’s senior population will increase threefold to 300 million by 2050. Elders need special attention from all stakeholders.

Talking about the plight of the senior population, Vivek Srivastava, Co-Founder and CEO, HCAH India said, “The trend of nuclear families in the past few years has led to older people considering structured care with healthcare staff and other amenities to support them physically and emotionally. The elderly who are at the mercy of others to take care of them at old age too have the right to live a happy and dignified life during their silver years. Covid -19 not only made them vulnerable physically but also emotionally. Hence, we also need to look into creating a sustainable and resilient ecosystem for senior care in India.”

There is a need to create an easily accessible and responsive elder care support system. Home Care, Tele Consultation, Tele Emergency, Holistic Living, and Acute Care Management are key components for a robust ecosystem.

“The pandemic also ushered in a new era of TeleWellness providing a better and safer option for the elderly to seek medical consultation during the pandemic. Now people have started preferring TeleWellness over visiting hospital OPDs for consulting a doctor. The acceptance of Telewellness has grown by leaps and bounds given that it is contactless, risk-free, and safe for both doctors and patients”, added Vivek Srivastava.

GRSI, whose parent company Genesis Health Care is a leader in Senior Care and Rehabilitation brings a range of expertise in Assisted Living, Long term care, Memory Care and Short Term Rehabilitation. Using its 35 years of experience in the Indian landscape is truly bringing organised and quality services to the Indian Senior Population and providing physical emotional and mental wellness through Telewellness and continued care program.

Terming the partnerships between GRSI and HCAH India very critical in creating a comprehensive and robust senior care ecosystem, Sunil Thakur, Partner, Quadria Capital said, “As India too is bound to witness a surge in the number of the senior population, the cohesive collaboration between GRSI and HCAH India will be very fruitful in offering healthcare support to the elderly and create an ecosystem that caters to the needs of the aging population.”

The partnership between GRSI and HCAH is expected to mitigate the health risks arising due to aging, social isolation, and loneliness among seniors. The initiative aims at equipping seniors against their vulnerability due to infection, anxiety, depression, cognitive dysfunction, heart disease and other reasons.
