CM of Karnataka flags off free mobile COVID-19 vaccination drive
Narayana Healthy City in association with Volvo Group India has launched a free mobile vaccination initiative called ‘Vaccination on Wheels.’ The initiative was flagged off by Basavaraj Bommai, Chief Minister, Karnataka in the presence of Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Narayana Health and Kamal Bali, President and MD, Volvo Group India.
Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Narayana Health, said, “Through this initiative, we want to ease the accessibility to the vaccine for all, including those who are unable to come forward to the vaccination centres owing to distance or physical constraints. In the initial phase, we are looking at inoculating around 20,000 and then later expand to a wider population.”
“At Volvo Group our expertise is in building mobility solutions and we wanted this deep expertise to be used for a larger good and this partnership with Narayana Health City is an outcome of this vision,” added Bali.
Starting with rural Bengaluru the drive will be conducted across the state for a period of six months across the state. To enable the initiative Volvo has designed a bus with sophisticated medical facilities such as vaccinations stations, emergency beds, special vaccine refrigerators, pantry, and chemical toilet. Besides this, necessary equipment outside the bus for registration and waiting areas for the public will also be made available.
