This surgery is showing promising results in terms of morbidity and patient satisfaction. With the help of a specially designed computer console to control surgical instruments on thin robotic arms, the cardiac surgeon performs the heart operations.

The surgeon controls the robot at all times. It does not do anything without the surgeon directing it (just as a pilot controls an airplane).
